Purpose, Methods & Goals

•    First Step First Love was created to serve male youths of all races, religions, and creeds. Boys with behavioral problems are placed in the program by the Kansas Department for Children and Families, Juvenile Services, Kansas Department of Corrections, and other states or privately.
•    The cornerstone of the program’s treatment philosophy is the traditional view of the value of the family. The family is seen as the basic ingredient both of our society and the emotional well-being of the young boys whom we serve. The primary goal of treatment is to restore healthy parent-child relationships whenever possible.
•    Our goal is to empower the youths with new skills which will enable them to make appropriate choices and decisions, making accountability a requirement rather than an option, and to advocate for each youth’s future well-being and best interests.
